Why do  parents teach kids to read maps?

Most of the  parents thought teaching kids to read maps could be the way for them to get  to know the world. In addition, reading maps is also an essential life skill  that parents might want their kids to learn. As long as the kids know how to  read maps, they can travel independently and have nothing to worry about getting  lost.

I’d like to talk  about Mayday, a Chinese rock band that dreams of being the “Beatles in China”.  The band originated in the late 1990s with five members, Ashin, Monster,  Stone, Masa and GuanYou. They came to be well known as Mayday in 1997.

As one of the  pioneers of modern rock music in China, Mayday is trying to mix rock’n’roll  with pop music to develop its own unique style. The band attracts a huge  number of fans, especially the young people. People in my generation have  always liked listening to their music, because their songs, from rhythm to  lyrics, are really inspiring. They tell us always look on the bright side of  life and never give up on your dreams. Every time listening to their songs  can make me feel energetic and get ready for the challenges in the real  world.

Mayday is not  just well-known in China, it also has a high reputation around the world.  Last year, I watched their “Nowhere World Tour” in Sydney. Thousands of  people came to enjoy the music feast. I think what shocked me the most was that even the foreigners could sing their songs  in Chinese.

What is the  most popular kind of music?

Well, as far as I  know, there is not just one particular kind of music. Actually there are  many: pop, jazz, rock, country, folk,rap,etc. All of them are the popular  among different groups. For example, youngsters are really into rock music,  while the older people feel like listening to jazz, country and light music.

Do you think  music industry is important?    

Sure thing!  Music industry plays a significant role in creating and selling music. The  large market for recorded music is under the control of the industry. Also, music  is an art, not just the tool of making money. Music industry can be an  important part of culture industry.
