We  live in cities or towns which have museums displaying historical and cultural  value, but not   many people visit them.  How do you think people   do not visit  museums in their local areas？What     is  the importance of museums to society?

开头段：引入话题背景+表明写作目的。There  is a growing tendency that public museums and some other places of historical  interest seem to be less attractive to locals than to visitors from other  areas of the country and from abroad. In this essay, I will elaborate upon  the major contributor to this phenomenon and meanwhile offer constructive  suggestions regarding how to appeal to more local inhabitants.

主体段1：分析原因。许多博物馆和历史古迹只介绍当地的主题（focus on local themes），例如当地的历史（local history），或者只展出当地艺术家的作品（only display works by local artists），导致它们的展览缺乏多样性（lack diversity in their exhibitions）。当地人由于出生并且长期生活在该城市，对于其过去和发展变化可以通过各种途径获得了解（know the past and the present through various sources），所以对于当地历史的好奇心（sense of curiosity  about local history）不如外来的参观者强烈。

主体段2：提出相应的解决办法。为了能够更好地为当地社区（local community）服务，博物馆和历史古迹应该更努力地去了解和满足当地居民的需求（do more work to better understand and satisfy the need of local  people）。比如，它们可以广泛地提供有教育作用的展览与讲座（offer a wide range of educational exhibitions and lectures）及鼓励游客亲身参与的活动（hands-on activities  promoting visitor participation），还可以在周末与节假日增加互动活动（carry out the interactive activities on weekends and holidays）来吸引更多的本地参观者。

总结段：导致本地人很少去参观当地的博物馆和历史古迹是有其一定的客观原因的，但是它们可以通过举办丰富多彩的文化活动以解决这一问题。
