Describe a situation when you received some useful advice You should say: ·what the situation was ·who gave you the advice ·what the advice was and explain how this advice was useful to you
Well, when it comes to this topic, I’d like to talk about the the advice I got to apply for a master’s degree. You know, I graduated from college in 2012 and at that time, I was carefully considering my future. I wanted to find a decent job as well as to further my study. But I didn't want to study in mainland china any more, so I turned to this professor, Miss Jin, a gorgeous and graceful lady for advice, coz she was easygoing and approachable. Almost all the students liked to communicate with her. I recall that I went to her office on a fine afternoon and we talked for about one and a half hours. That was really a delightful conversation. She was quite familiar with me and strongly recommended her Alma Mater, that is, the Hong Kong Polytechnic University to me, coz I wanted to learn English interpreting and she said that the major of English interpreting in this university was superb. And she gave me a lot of advice on how to apply for the master’s degree on the Internet by myself, which saved me a huge amount of money coz I didn't need any intermediary institutions’ help. What’ s more, she offered me loads of tips on how to live independently in HK, including where to rent a flat and how to find roommates, which were really practical and useful. On the whole, I guess her advice saved me lots of troubles of this whole styding-abroad thing.

Part3 | |
1 | Do you think it’s part of a teacher’s job to give advice to his/her students? |
| Yeah, of course. I know that some teachers don't care about their students, they just care about the students’ grades in exams and their own career. But I still believe that there are some respectable teachers who are willng to help their students. And I suppose giving useful and right advice to students is part of teachers’ responsibilities. By the way, young people tend to be easier to feel lost in life,so teachers should guide them in the right direction. |
2 | What advice do parents usually give their children? |
| Um…it depends. You know, some parents are really busy at work, they may not have enough time to talk to their kids or care about the details of their kids’ lives. So these parents only give advice on important issues, such as which school to attend, what kind of job to take in the future. But, on the other hand., some parents tend to be more careful and considerate of the children’s daily life. Probably, they will take care of some small things, like what kind of food to eat, what sort of clothes to wear and which musical instrument the kids should learn, etc.. |
