——张霖楠

最近关于国外的题目最近考得很多,以前讲过一个话题a country you want to go.最近有个让考生有点纠结的题目:a place you visited to learn another country.这个话题和foreign country 是由联系的,可以从节日、饮食等方面入手。我们来回顾一下关于异地文化的题目。

Part 1 题目回顾:

1. Do you like travelling?

Yes, I do. Traveling can help me learn local cultures and customs. I can also taste a variety of local food. I think it’s great to travel with friends and families. It might be even better if I could travel overseas.

2. Where do you like to go when you go traveling?

I don’t like very crowded places. I don’t like to visit the tourist attractions, but I would like to visit some people’s home and some unique restaurants. I can learn a lot from just walking in a city.

3. Have you ever traveled for a long time? = Have you (ever) been on any long trips?

Yes, I went to Yunnan province last summer and stayed there for almost two weeks. It’s really my longest trip so far. I like the stone forests in Kunming and Lijing ancient town. Since there’re a variety of ethnic groups in Yunnan, the culture and construction styles are very different from cities in my hometown.

3. Do you like long trips?

If I have enough time, I think long trips are nice because I can always learn new things by staying there for a longer time. Also, if I have plenty of time to explore a place, I won’t feel too tired.

4. How do you feel when you travel?

I can always feel relaxed and excited because I can see different things and learn the local cultures and customs.

5. Do you prefer to travel alone or with other people?

I prefer to travel with other people because I can talk with them and share our experiences. Also, I’m not good at directions. If I travel with others, I don’t need to worry about getting lost.

6. Where (which country or place) would you like to travel to (in the future)?

If I have enough money, I’d like to travel to Egypt. It’s a mysterious country to me and I always want to walk in the pyramids. I think I might even find the buried treasure if I’m lucky enough.

Part 2 回顾

I am really interested in learning about other cultures in foreign counties. A few years ago, I took a business trip to Japan. During the time I spent there, I got to know a about the Festival for the Dead. This festival is a cheerful occasion, for on this day the dead are said to return to their homes and they are welcomed by the living. In fact, China has a similar festival in autumn. But the activities that people do are not different. This is the major reason why I enjoy learning about it. On this occasion, food is laid out for the dead, as they are expected to be hungry after their long journeys. Specially made lanterns are hung outside each house to help them find the way. All night long, people dance and sing. In the early morning, the food that had been laid out for the dead is thrown into a river or into the sea, as it is considered unlucky for anything living to eat it. By contrast, Chinese people never discard the food in on these occasions. Also, the tiny lanterns that had been used the night before are placed in the water when the festival is over.
Sometimes it is very meaningful for me to learn about other cultures, especially when they are similar to that of China. (Retrieved from http://www.italki.com/entry/403814)

Part 3 回顾

1. Is it good or bad working overseas?

Well, it depends. To some people who are well-prepared, expecting to obtain more experience, hoping to change their working circumstances, trying to cultivate their own abilities, working overseas may be beneficial to them. However, to other people who are not willing to leave their motherlands, or not able enough to fulfill the tasks alone in foreign countries, forcing them to work overseas may not be a good idea.

2. Should the government prohibit foreigners to come to visit? Why?

I don’t think it is a good idea to do so. Firstly, foreign visitors may help to boost the tourism industry, and so contribute to the development of economy in the country. Also, foreign visitors may bring in some new ideas or concepts, from which the country may be enabled to absorb the essence to enrich its own culture. In addition, with more foreign visitors coming, they will have better understandings of the country, promote the spreading of the culture worldwide, improving the international status of the country. So if possible, I would support more attractions of foreign visitors instead of prohibiting them.

3. Do you think holidays are necessary?

Yes definitely, because people are often under pressure. If one doesn’ t lake some time to relax and release pressure, it’ll build up and only get worse. Only after one goes on a refreshing holiday, can one work again with efficiency.

4. What do people do on their holidays?

It really varies according to individual preference. I know some people like to hit the road while others choose to stay at home, but most will still do some outdoor activities during the holiday.

5. Do you have foreign friends or teachers?

I do have some foreign friends. Some of them are on-line friends and some I met at church.

6. What are the differences between staying at home and traveling?

They are absolutely different. While one can stay at home to have a good rest, traveling quite different. You have to spend money and time, hut in return you'll have a richer experience and have a lot of fun.
