　　Many governments think that economic progress is their most important goal. Some people, however, think that other types of progress are equally important for a country. Discuss both views and give your own opinion.

　　Nowadays, there has long been controversy about national development. Some people consider that the economic development plays a decisive role in the global competition and should be given priority. Others, on the other hand, believe that other types such as cultural and fundamental progress are equally vital to a country. Indeed, both of two sides have their own reasons.

　　In the first case, the economic development does produce profound influences on a country. At present, if a country has strong economic power, it will have the rights to participate in the international events instead of relying on other countries. And government can utilize the money to invest basic infrastructure, namely, higher education , artistic development and medical health care, which can improve people's living quality. Without economic progress, sorts of these cannot be achieved.

　　In the second case, other types of progress are equally significant at the same time.  If national decision makers only lay more emphasis on its economic progress and ignore other aspects, the country will suffer great loss. For example, citizens will not have access to recreational facilities after long time working, which may cause the decline of public health. Also the national culture is going to be on the extinction due to the lack of preservation. The fundamental progress like traffic construction is more likely to be affected. In this case, except the financial development, other progress should be taken into consideration.

　　In conclusion, from what we have discussed, in my opinion, other progress are based on the economic progress. So the government should develop the economy steadily and attach great importance to the other progress because all of them contribute to the whole country.
