　　The era has evolved to the stage where people attach more importance to their happiness. However， some people believe that citizens living in less developed countries tend to be happier and satisfied with their lives. In this essay， I intend to explore the sources of this problem along with some possible suggestions.

　　For developed countries， their social wealth has been increasing， and accordingly social problems become severe and obvious. The recently ended presidential election 2017 in the USA sets a good example. Some problems as racial discrimination， gender equality， unemployment and immigration are the key points of contention. It therefore is no wonder that the public feel dissatisfied with their society. Meanwhile， it is a natural result of economic development. During the post-war period of economic expansion in 1980s， American citizens enjoyed an extremely material success. However， when a country's economic strength reaches a peak， what the morrow has in store for them is a gradual fallback， which undoubtedly results in a huge psychological blow. After all， citizens' feeling of happiness is tied closely to their country's economic development， especially when the economy is somewhat stagnant.

　　By contrast， developing countries are in the process of wealth accumulation. The fact that citizens in developing countries are busy in increasing their own wealth and improving living standards exists commonly. Many social problems consequently are hidden， which makes them feel happier. What is more， it is exactly because citizens in developing countries are on the path of accumulating wealth that the material success or improvement of life bring them great satisfaction and happiness.

　　Therefore， developed countries afford their developing counterparts lessons that merit attention， from which those developing countries can avoid some zigzags during their development， while governments in developed countries should actively grapple with problems that perplex their citizens rather than evade those issues.
